The Free Nutritious Meal Program (Program Makan Bergizi Gratis/MBG) requires active parental ivolvement, yet many parents still have limited understanding of balanced nutrition and the program’s objectives. This study examines the effect of school-based participatory health communication on parents’ knowledge and behavior, contributing empirical evidence to participatory health communication in school nutrition initiatives. The independent variable was school-based participatory health communication, while the dependent variables were parents’ knowledge and behavior. Using a quantitative explanatory one-group pretest–posttest design, questionnaires were administered to parents of MBG participants during the intervention period. The results showed significant improvements in parents’ knowledge and healthy behaviors, suggesting that participatory health communication effectively strengthens family engagement and supports the sustainability of school nutrition programs.
